Cut an X in the top, and then simmer in a pot of hot water for 15 to 30 seconds. Cool down and the skin will fall right off.

Soften butter

Tip of the day To soften butter faster Take a large glass, one that’s big enough to fit over the stick of butter, and fill it up to the top with hot water. You can use very hot water from the tap or boiling water. Leave that to sit for a minute or so and then dump the water out. Turn the empty, but still warm, glass over and cover the stick of butter with it. Now leave it for a few minutes, and you’ll have a perfectly-softened stick of butter!

Tip of the day This tip is especially useful for those of you that don’t have any nails to dig into the tough skin of an orange. With a few clever cuts of a knife, you can peel an orange and eat it without juice dripping all over your hands. But best of all, it’s FUN!
